ChatGPT Prompts for Instagram Content: Captions, Reels & Carousels
Instagram rewards consistency and strong first seconds. These five ChatGPT prompts help you plan a month of Reels, write captions that end with a clear call to action, and fix videos that people scroll past.
Why most AI Instagram captions sound the same
If you ask ChatGPT for "an Instagram caption about productivity", you get the same emoji-heavy paragraph everyone else gets. The model has no idea who your audience is, what you sell, how you talk or what you want the viewer to do next. The fix is not a cleverer one-liner. It is a brief.
A good content brief tells the AI four things: who it is (a short-form video strategist, a direct-response copywriter), your context (niche, audience, offer, voice), the exact task, and the output format. Fill those in and the same model starts writing copy that sounds like you.
How to use these prompts
Replace every [PLACEHOLDER] with real details: your niche, audience, offer and two or three examples of your own posts for voice. Run the prompt, then reply with feedback ("shorter", "less hype", "more specific to beginners") instead of starting again. ChatGPT gets much better with a couple of rounds of direction.
A practical weekly rhythm: use the 30 Reel ideas prompt once a month, batch your hooks and scripts on one day, write captions as you schedule, and run the retention doctor on any Reel that underperforms.
What makes an Instagram post work
A hook in the first second, spoken and on screen.
One idea per Reel or carousel, not five.
A specific call to action: save, share, comment a keyword or visit your link.
A series format, so viewers know what they will get if they follow.
