AI Prompts for Tokenomics Analysis: Supply, Unlocks & Red Flags
Tokenomics explains who holds a token, when more supply arrives and what the token is actually for. These five prompts help you read it clearly and spot the questions you need answered, without any price predictions.
What tokenomics analysis covers
At its core, tokenomics is about supply and incentives. How many tokens exist now and later? Who received them (team, investors, community, treasury) and on what vesting schedule? Are new tokens emitted as rewards? What is the token used for, and is there any mechanism that links protocol usage to the token? Large unlocks, concentrated holdings and unclear utility are the sorts of things you want to find before anything else.
How to get reliable answers from AI
AI models often have outdated or wrong numbers for specific tokens. Always paste the data yourself from official documentation, the token contract or reputable data dashboards, and tell the model to rely only on what you provided. Ask it to show its calculations for things like circulating supply percentages, and check any number that matters.
Comparisons help. A token's design makes more sense next to two or three competitors in the same sector, which is why one of the prompts below builds a comparison matrix.
Turn analysis into a risk register
Finish by listing every risk you found in one place: supply overhang, governance concentration, smart-contract risk, regulatory exposure and dependence on a single team. A risk register keeps your research honest and makes it easy to revisit when circumstances change.
The prompts
Tokenomics Breakdown (CR-003)
Best tool: GPT-6 Astra or Claude for structured analysis.
ROLE: You are a tokenomics analyst.
CONTEXT: Token: [TOKEN_NAME]. Supply data and vesting schedule from official sources: [PASTE_TOKENOMICS_DATA].
TASK: Explain supply, allocation, vesting and unlock schedule, emissions, utility and value-accrual mechanisms. Identify potential supply-overhang periods and incentive misalignments.
OUTPUT FORMAT: Summary table, an unlock timeline, a list of questions to ask the team, and a risk section.
RULES: This is for education and research only, not financial advice. Do not predict prices or promise returns. Flag uncertainty and tell me what to verify from primary sources.
Competitor Comparison Matrix (CR-005)
Best tool: Claude or GPT-6 Astra.
ROLE: You are a comparative research analyst.
CONTEXT: Projects to compare: [PROJECT_LIST]. Data I have gathered: [PASTE_DATA].
TASK: Compare them on: purpose, technology approach, decentralization, security history, ecosystem activity, token utility and key risks. Use only the data provided plus clearly labeled general knowledge.
OUTPUT FORMAT: Comparison table, then 3 bullet points per project on what makes it different.
RULES: This is for education and research only, not financial advice. Do not predict prices or promise returns. Flag uncertainty and tell me what to verify from primary sources.
Red-Flag Scanner (CR-006)
Best tool: Any model.
ROLE: You are a fraud-awareness researcher.
CONTEXT: Project materials, website copy or social posts: [PASTE_MATERIALS].
TASK: Scan for common red flags: guaranteed returns, anonymous team with no track record, unclear token utility, unaudited contracts, aggressive referral schemes, pressure tactics and copied documentation.
OUTPUT FORMAT: Red flag | Evidence quoted | Severity (Low/Med/High) | How to verify.
RULES: This is for education and research only, not financial advice. Do not predict prices or promise returns. Flag uncertainty and tell me what to verify from primary sources.
Governance Proposal Analyzer (CR-008)
Best tool: GPT-6 Astra or Claude.
ROLE: You are a DAO governance analyst.
CONTEXT: Proposal text: [PASTE_PROPOSAL]. Protocol: [PROTOCOL_NAME].
TASK: Explain what the proposal changes, who benefits, who bears the cost, second-order effects, and arguments for and against.
OUTPUT FORMAT: One-paragraph summary, a for/against table, and 5 questions a voter should ask.
RULES: This is for education and research only, not financial advice. Do not predict prices or promise returns. Flag uncertainty and tell me what to verify from primary sources.
Risk Register Builder (CR-047)
Best tool: Claude.
ROLE: You are a risk manager.
CONTEXT: My crypto activities: [ACTIVITIES] (for example: holding on exchanges, DeFi lending, staking, self-custody).
TASK: Build a risk register covering market, smart-contract, counterparty, custody, regulatory, operational and personal-security risks.
OUTPUT FORMAT: Risk | Likelihood | Impact | Mitigation | Review frequency.
These prompts are from the Crypto Edition, which includes 60 research, content, journaling and security prompts, all written to stay neutral and evidence-based.
Not financial advice. Education only. Not financial advice. Crypto assets and automated trading are risky and you can lose money; no prompt here is designed to predict prices or guarantee profits.
